Hailing from the Vale of Clwyd in North Wales, Arfon Jones has dedicated his life to making a positive impact on those around him. With a distinguished career spanning decades, Arfon’s journey is one of compassion, commitment, and service.
After graduating in both Music and Theology from Bangor University, Arfon moved to Cardiff over 40 years ago. There, he devoted himself to supporting individuals struggling with alcohol and drug addiction, a role that showcased his deep empathy and dedication to helping others.
Arfon’s career has been rich and varied, including extensive youth work, involvement in Christian charities, and significant literary contributions. Notably, he played a key role in the translation of the Bible into modern Welsh through beibl.net, ensuring accessibility for future generations.
Alongside his professional achievements, Arfon’s most rewarding role has been as a parent. He and his wife Rachel adopted two children through St David’s, embracing the joys and challenges of adoption. Reflecting on his journey, Arfon describes adoption as both a privilege and a joy — a journey filled with moments of love, growth, and learning.
For 11 years, Arfon has served as a dedicated trustee for St David’s, helping to shape the organisation’s mission and ensuring that children remain at the heart of its service delivery. Even in retirement, Arfon’s commitment to supporting families and communities continues through his active involvement in church life and various charitable causes.
Arfon’s unwavering dedication to St David’s and his lifelong contributions to social care stand as a powerful reminder of the impact one individual can have. His story is a testament to the strength of compassion, resilience, and belief in creating positive change.
We are incredibly grateful for Arfon’s lasting contributions and proud to celebrate him as one of our valued Trustees.
